DELAY-ACTION RIFLE

The rifle on the video is mere prototype of a delay-action firearm. Prototype is based on 7.62x39 Arsenal SAR M1. There were no need for modifications on the rifle itself - it can be reversed back to factory settings in a minute. The invention is patented.

Delay-action firearm stores part of gunpowder's energy and that stored energy is used ejecting the used case and reloading new one when the shooter wants to. It is possible to make delay-action automated and set the time of delay by the shooter.

This is yet a raw version of the invention just to prove it can be done. Naturally the shooter can fire the delay-action firearm traditionally without delay-action when necessary. There is no slower rate of fire. The whole mechanism is used by a small movement of the thumb.

The idea is to enhance the accuracy of the semi-automatic rifle, especially with sniper rifles. As said, Arsenal on the video is just a raw version of the prototype. Delay-action rifle is like bolt-action when fired giving extreme accuracy, but still takes the advantage of semi-auto when reloading.

Shooter can keep his position and aim during reloading. On the other hand, on sniper mission shooter can wait and prevent being exposed by ejected case or manual reloading.

Since the bolt stays closed during firing, no corrosive fumes can get inside the gun keeping it cool and clean. This is especially noticeable when using silencer. This also prevents energy being wasted - it exits the same way the bullet does.

Delay-action fills the gap between bolt-action and semi-auto taking advantages of them both but evading their drawbacks.

The future of semi-automatic sniper rifles is delayed.
